The 36 hectares of this Mediterranean vineyard benefit from exceptional sunshine (more than 300 days of sunshine per year) and low rainfall. The vegetation is precocious, the maturity of the grape berries is accentuated by the sea winds loaded with humidity coming from the Bois des Aresquiers and from the tramontana by the Gardiole massif.

The soils of the Domaine du Mas Rouge are of Jurassic origin. They take the form of old alluvial deposits and limestone gravel, surrounded by very stony scrubland, holm oaks and aromatic plants (thyme, rosemary, etc.).

THE GRAPE VARIETIES

THE TERROIR

We mainly produce white Muscat à petits grains. This ancient grape variety, which comes to us from the Greek Orient, was particularly appreciated in the Middle Ages and highly prized by nobles, kings, philosophers and ancient doctors such as Arnaud de Villeneuve, Gui de Chauliac and Rabelais , for its therapeutic virtues. Known mainly in the production of Vins Doux Naturels such as the AOP Muscat de Mireval and Frontignan, it is increasingly appreciated in dry, dry woody, sparkling, sweet or even late harvest.

Since 2007 we have diversified our production by planting Chardonnay, Cinsault vinified into dry rosé and sparkling rosé and Syrah for our red wines.

The harvest of the Domaine du Mas Rouge is mechanical and manual to make a selection qualitative  and adapted to different types of strains. There are three harvest periods: mid-August for dry white wines; early September for natural sweet wines; late September / early October for "overripe harvests" intended for naturally sweet wines.
